Andrew Hagen for Dunn County Board

Community involvement is key to finding solutions for our County.

About Andrew

I am a 5th-generation farmer, carrying forward a legacy that began when my family immigrated from Norway to Western Wisconsin in 1898. Growing up in western Wisconsin and attending UW-Stout, my roots in the local soil run deep.

After graduation, I spent a decade self-employed - traveling across the U.S. That experience was my greatest education; it taught me the power of introspection and the importance of asking a simple question: "What challenges are you facing and how can we solve them?" Today, I bring that same solution-oriented mindset to my work at Andersen Windows in Menomonie and my service on the County Board.

Clarity in Governance

Good governance starts with transparency. In my work as your County Supervisor, I make it a point to ask questions—no matter how simple or obvious they may seem. If I have a question, chances are a member of our community has the same one. Clarity isn’t just a goal; it’s a requirement for effective leadership.

Results & Fiscal Responsibility

I am committed to a county government that works efficiently and respects your tax dollars. By focusing on smart investments and long-term savings, we ensure a sustainable future for Dunn County.

  • Taxpayer Savings: We achieved a 2% savings in the mill rate, which equates to around a $600/year in savings for a $300k home compared to 2021.

  • Infrastructure Efficiency: We reduced the lifespan of county roads from 72 years to 25 years, ensuring quicker full repairs. Our investment in the new Highway building will further cut maintenance costs and downtime.

  • Fiscal Discipline: I approved an ordinance to mandate General Fund spending starting at 35%, maintaining a healthy "rainy-day" fund while keeping the county budget consistently under the rate of inflation.

  • Supporting Our Veterans: Our Veterans Office successfully returned approximately $1M in real dollars to our local veterans. I have also connected veterans to our VSO to enroll in the benefits they earned.

  • Strategic Grants: I approve approximately $1M in annual grants for Health and Human Services (HHS), securing vital services without increasing the tax levy.

Representing Our Community

Serving you means being accessible and taking action on the issues that hit closest to home.

  • Local Advocacy: I advocated for rural doorstep transit services and supported the County’s management of licensing for Manufactured Home Communities to ensure better local oversight.

  • Environmental Stewardship: I proudly approved the formation of the Tainter Lake District, the water testing study and lab at the Health Department, and winter road-salt management on county roads.

  • Direct Communication: I am committed to the people I serve. I personally respond to every email request I receive and make sure every question is answered satisfactory.

Committees & Service

  • Health & Human Services Committee (including Veterans Services)

  • Dunn County Transit

  • Indianhead Federated Library System (IFLS) (through 2028)

Beyond the Board

Community service doesn't end when the meeting adjourns. I am actively involved in making Dunn County a better place to live for everyone by:

  • Organizing donations for the Angel Funds across Dunn County School Districts.

  • Working to improve rental conditions in Menomonie.

  • Hosting public meet-and-greets to ensure you have a direct line to your elected officials.

  • Working with local housing groups in Menomonie.

ADU Ordinance passage July 2024

When a solution is so well thought-out, the entire board can come together in support.

July 2024, expanding ADUs to county residential zones (except R1s).
